As
we have previously discussed about How
to submit sitemap to Google search, Today we are going to discuss about How
to submit sitemap to Bing and Yahoo search.
Previously
we have to submit sitemap to yahoo search through yahoo sitemap explorer and
MSN didn’t require sitemap submissions but a year later Yahoo search and Bing
search were merged. Bing search engine is a replacement of MSN by MICROSOFT.
Now after their merger our job becomes more easy as we have to submit sitemap
only to Bing search through Bing Webmaster tools sets it for two search engines
i.e Yahoo and Bing both.

only to Bing search through Bing Webmaster tools sets it for two search engines
i.e Yahoo and Bing both.
We
have to submit our sitemap for Blogger or Wordpress or whatever it is, the
process is same as we have to submit it with Bing webmaster tools and there is
no reason why one shouldn’t submit it as everyone wants more traffic for their sites.
So
Let’s get started step by step. First we have to add our site to it.
1. Log on to BingWebmaster Tools using your Microsoft account such as Hotmail, Xbox live,
Windows phone, Skydrive or other Microsoft services. If you don’t have one just
sign up there and log on.
2.
Once you are
logged in, click on add site in the dashboard.

Enter your full
site url, your XML sitemap and click on submit.
Now
you have successfully added your site with sitemap to Bing search but the job
is not over yet as in the next part we have to verify our ownership for the
submitted website to get traffic from Bing and Yahoo as well.
When
you completed the above steps submitting your site. You will see a message next
to your site saying ‘site ownership has
not been verified, verify now’. Click on verify now, you will get a page
showing three options for verification.
FOR
BLOGGER (BLOGSPOT) VERIFICATION
For
Blogger (Blogspot) users, easiest way for verification is the 2nd
one i.e by addition of tag. Steps for verification given below.
1. Copy the Bing
HTML code given in 2nd option.
2. Go to your
Blogger (Blogspot) dashboard, Now go to template, then click on edit HTML and proceed.
3. Now press ctrl+f
key and you will find a search box in footer section of your browser.
4. Now find <head>.
5. Just after <head>, paste the
code that we got from Bing and save template.
6. Now go to Bing
Webmasters and verify ownership.
If
you are using custom domain for your Blogger (Blogspot) blog, you can also opt
for 3rd option which is adding of CNAME records to your domain DNS
setting. As we done in my previous post ‘Adding custom domain to your Blogger(Blogspot) blog.’
FOR
WORDPRESS VERIFICATION
Site
verification for Wordpress blog can be done in the same manner as in the case
of Blogger (Blogspot) blog. As I had already stated for Blogger as well as Wordpress
addition of Metatag would be the easiest one. You can do this simply by various
SEO plugins such as Wordpress SEO by Yoast etc. I have already discussed them
in my post ‘Wordpress
Plugins’ just go to these plugins dashboard and add that HTML code. When
done, Go to Bing Webmasters dashboard and verify your site and you are done.
