How to Use Google's Disavow Tool ?

Google’s Disavow Tool is a tool which is used as a last resort in cleaning of your link profile or we can say removing spammy links or bad links from your site. When you go through different articles related to recovery of websites from different Google’s algorithm updates such as Penguin, which hit websites with bad or spammy links, you surely get this tool mentioned in them. As I earlier said this tool should only be used as a last resort, From last resort I mean to say that you should only use this tool if you have considerable amount of spammy or bad links and you have tried all other ways of removing them but unable to remove all. Only using Google's Disavow Tool isn’t enough, firstly try Email outreach method for contacting and requesting different webmasters to remove links to your site. Use this tool with caution as this tool may harm your site’s performance. When using this tool try to be detailed as possible and confess everything.

Steps for using Google's Links Disavow Tool
   
   (1)   Creating a text file which contains all bad and spammy links.
  
   (2)   Uploading text file to Google Disavow Tool.

Creating a text file which contains all bad and spammy links.

I am using Google Webmaster Tools for creating link file but you can also use other free online backlinks checker tools which are available free. 
   (1)   Go to Google Webmaster Tools and login there with your Email and password.
  
   (2)   Select your site on which you want link analysis.
  

   
   (3)   In your dashboard, go to ‘traffic’ and then ‘links to your site’.
  

   
   (4)   Click on ‘More’ and then ‘Download latest links’.

  

   
   
   (5)   Choose ‘CSV’ format and download it.
  

   
   (6)   Open it with Microsoft Excel and expand block ‘A’ to view full links.

  

   
   (7)   Copy all the links and paste them to notepad.
  

   
   (8)   Now remove Good links leaving behind bad and spammy links.
  
   (9)   Save it.
  
   (10) You can add various comments starting from '#' before links to provide different details. Google ignore lines starting from '#'. (Ex- # Owner of domain xyz .com removed links but unable to remove all, followed by your links.
 Note- They consider 1 link per line as valid links, if you write more than 1 link per line they will not consider it as valid.

Now you have created your link list which contains considerable number of bad and spammy links.

Uploading your link list to Google's Disavow Tool.
  
   (1)   Go to Google's Disavow Tool under Google Webmaster Tools.
  
   (2)   Select your site on which you want to use this tool and click on ‘DISAVOW LINKS’.
  

   
   (3)   A warning message is displayed by Google, again click on ‘DISAVOW LINKS’.

  

   
   (4)   Upload your links file which we have created in step 1.
  
   (5)   Click on ‘Submit’ and you are done.



NOTE- This tool doesn’t works instantly, you have to wait for some months in order to see satisfactory results.
