Why One Should Backup His Blogger (Blogspot) Blog at Regular Intervals ?

As everyone knows that ‘creating backup’ means keeping your data safe at some other place, so that in case you lost your data, you can regain it anytime. In this article we are going to discuss different reasons that, why one should backup his/her blogger blog at regular intervals?

There are two main reasons for backing up your blogger blog:

           (1)   Preventing data loss if Google deletes your blog.
           (2)   For moving your blog from one blogging platform to another.

Why to create a backup of blogger blog at regular intervals?

Preventing Data Loss if Google deletes your blog.

If you are using blogger as your blogging platform you are already aware that blogger is free hosted by Google. You already know that what I mean from free hosted, for newbies I want to revise it as ‘free hosted’ means you don’t have to pay a single penny for making your blog alive, But many blogging platform such as Wordpress and many other websites have to purchase a hosting package from different Web hosting companies for making their web presence. This free hosting is the main cause for backing up our blog, as in free hosting i.e. blogger, the whole control of our blog is in the hands of Google. So, if you got deviated from their guidelines, they will delete your blog in seconds. This was happened to one of my friend who was engaged in blog made for music distribution, one day suddenly his 20 posts were converted into drafts by Google with a warning that if he republishes them again they will delete his blog.

This will happen mostly to the blogs which are engaged in distributing:-

(1) Music Downloads- A music download site is one of the sites which will be in danger by Google, as in the upper Para I have stated that what had happened to one of my friend. You will notice that many blogs were engaged in this, but according to Google guidelines, you should only do this if you have got copyright from their producers. If someone complains against you, then you will be in problem.

(2) Software- Same thing happens in case of software distribution as above, you can only distribute software if you have a proper distribution license else distribute softwares which are free to distribute.

(3) Porn- Porn is another major cause which will let your blog in danger. Many blogs which are engaged in distributing porn are removed by Google as when you go through their guidelines, you will see they strictly say ‘No’ to porn.

(4) Copied Content- Copying content from others website is also another cause which will not be underestimated. Website owners easily come to know that who copies from their website and when they complain against you via DMCA, you will have to delete your posts else they will take legal action against you. Most website contents are copyrighted and many of them use different scripts for protecting their content.

(5) Hacking- Distribution of Hacking articles and tools are strictly prohibited in blogger as they will treat them as illegal.

I am not saying that they will instantly remove your blog but they don’t hesitate in doing so whenever it will come to their notice. Hence it would be better to take backups at regular intervals, just to play safe side.

For moving your blog from one blogging platform to another.

Creating backup of blogger blog at regular intervals is also very important from the aspect of changing or moving blogging platform such as migrating from blogger to wordpress. If you have blogger blog backup you can easily upload all your data instantly to other platforms and also in the case if Google deletes your blog. So, start backing up your blogger blog at regular intervals for playing safe.
