What are Google Search Algorithms And Their Functions?

In this article, we are going to discuss Google search algorithm. Many of us wonder that how search on Google works. We type a keyword or phrase related to our search and hit enter and within a fraction of second, Google revert to us with best possible matches what we want. Google provides us with most relevant content according to the page rank; this page rank is associated with search algorithms. I would not go in deep about ‘how search works’ but simply wants to make you understand that what actually Google
search algorithms means?

What are Google search algorithms?

Search Algorithms are defined as the formula's or set of defined rules or mathematical instructions which are used by search engines to rank a webpage against other WebPages. These formula's or rules are of much importance as they help search engines to work efficiently in their best way. Before delivering results to its searchers, Google sorts WebPages by their content quality and many other factors. These algorithms look for clues to understand better, what we mean. A search algorithm considers both onpage as well as offpage elements as well. Initially search engine considers only onpage elements to rank a webpage against others such as title tag, Keywords, description etc but now they considers offpage SEO as important factors in ranking a page such as backlinks building, social media and bookmarking etc.

Different functions of search algorithms:-

   (1)   The first and foremost function of search algorithms is to rank each webpage against others based on hundreds of factors in SERP (search engine results page).

   (2)   It finds the most relevant pages according to search queries used by searchers, to provide them with best results.

   (3)   It displays WebPages with higher page rankings up in SERP (search engine results page).

Google regularly updates its algorithms to provide its users or we can say searchers with high quality content. It released many updates such as Google panda and Google Penguin to display quality search results and to fight SEO spam or we can say to punish websites involve in blackhat SEO practices. These algorithms are very sophisticated and powerful as they rank down a websites which hampers Google quality guidelines.
